Current ICM Academic Trainees (ACFs) in the North West
Dr Andrew Claxton
Dr Naomi Cochrane

Similar to the anaesthetic ACF program, the intensive care ACF program is also a three-year integrated clinical and academic training program, supported by the NIHR but run by the University of Manchester.
Trainees are supported to undertake a total of 9 months of dedicated research time (flexibly divided) across the three years of the program.
There are opportunities for formal research training through enrolment on a variety of masters degrees (funded by the NIHR), or through dedicated seminars run by the University of Manchester’s centre for academic and researcher development.
The intensive care ACF program began in 2016. To date, two trainees have been recruited.
