DALES (Drug Allergy Labels In The Elective Surgical Population)
Trainee Lead For The North West - Tom Heaton
The 2018 RAFT annual project, following on from the success of iHYPE, is a 3-day snapshot study exploring the prevalence and impact of patient-reported drug allergies.
It comprises both patient and anaesthetist surveys with targeted same-day follow-up for patients with Beta-lactam and opioid allergy labels who are receiving these drugs. The ultimate aim is to help anaesthetists tackle the risks of false non-IgE ‘allergy’ labels which are now well established.
We’re looking for leads for data collection at all Trusts across the Deanery, with data collection starting towards mid-May 2018. See http://www.raftrainees.com/project-summary.html for more information, and email us or complete the contact form to register interest in helping out.
All interested trainees must have an up-to-date Good Clinical Practice certificate - see the link on the home page of the website.
The study recruitment dates are three days within a six-week window between 21st May 2018 and 2nd July 2018. These are locally agreed, i.e. at your convenience and need not be consecutive.
For further information on running the study, please see the DALES standard operating procedure (SOP) at https://www.raftrainees.com/dales-files.html
