Intraoperative Hypotension in the Elderly (iHypE)
iHypE is RAFT's second national project, and and is being supported by the NIAA/AAGBI and achieved NIHR portfolio status, which is is quite an achievement for anaesthetic trainee-led research in the UK! This is a trainee-led observational research study assessing the incidence of hypotension in elderly patients having surgery, which aligns with several key research priorities published by the James Lind Alliance Anaesthesia and Perioperative Care Priority Setting Partnership in 2015, namely “How can we improve recovery from surgery for elderly patients?”, “What long term harm can result from anaesthesia?” and “How can patient care around the time of emergency surgery be improved?”
